BM Attachments Ltd, formed in 2009, was created to develop a new design of concrete pile breaking unit: The BM Cruncher.
The construction industry is using increasing numbers of square pre-cast concrete piles for foundation work. These piles are driven in to the ground by a pile driving rig. After driving, the piles have to be trimmed to a uniform height and, where required, expose the top section of steel reinforcing. This task is carried out by a pile breaker attached to a mechanical excavator. The BM Cruncher has a simple design suitable for cutting 350mm square piles whilst maintaining a footprint of less than 1m square.
The ‘Cruncher’ has significant advantages over existing pile breakers in the market place; in particular its small size, light weight and high breaking force. The prototype has completed comprehensive testing with very encouraging results and favourable comments from operators.
“ from the first cut it was obvious the cruncher was something special. The operator appreciated it’s lightweight and ease of operation. This is a really well designed tool, we will never use any other type of pile breaker.” -Bill Boreland, Site Agent, AJ Clarke
Patent applications have been made to protect the design of the Cruncher.
